Intelishift Nominated for CIT Entrepreneur Award

This prestigious award is given to those entrepreneurs throughout the state that have contributed significantly to the growth of the technology sector in Virginia. The award is a peer nomination process with a minimum of three individuals submitting a candidate’s name for the award.

“I have had the privilege of working with Mike through several ventures and he is a more than deserving nominee for this award” stated Intelishift President Ryan Barbera. “He has had a huge influence on this industry and on those of us who have been lucky enough to work with him throughout the years. I am very happy for him to be receiving this recognition.”

Nominees for the awards given by CIT, which is exclusively tasked with promoting entrepreneurship throughout the state must meet a stringent set of rules and requirements including (but not limited to) a candidate’s involvement in the following areas:

        • Individuals who are most likely to found a high-growth tech, life science or energy venture in the next 5 years
        • Individuals both with or without current involvement in a start-up
        • Individuals with strong ties to Virginia
        • Individuals must exhibit substantive involvement in Virginia’s technology or entrepreneurial ecosystem


About Mr. Velotta
Mr. Velotta has more than 20 years’ experience in network data center and computer server operations. In late 1996, Mr. Velotta founded Lore Internet Systems. Initially, the company provided high-speed Internet services, such as DS-1’s and web and electronic mail hosting to many pioneer dot-com companies. Mr. Velotta was instrumental in building the first Lore Internet Systems network operation center in Washington, DC. Lore Internet Systems hosts thousands of businesses with its highly reliable, fully redundant meshed network and certified network and support engineers. In early 2008, Mr. Velotta successfully led the sale of Lore Internet Systems to a private investment group in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

In 2011, Mr. Velotta invested in Intelishift Technologies, a new high-tech company with datacenters in California, Virginia, and Illinois. The company provides premier data center solutions, colocation, cloud computing, managed hosting and services that help extend and enhance technology infrastructure. Mr. Velotta is the architect of the company’s cloud datacenter service which provides world-class solutions that are compatible, interoperable environments for enterprises wishing to implement a private, public or hybrid cloud strategy.
